    Academic Freedom as the Foundation of the Democratic Culture of the University in the European Education Area

    This paper examines academic freedom as a key condition for shaping the democratic culture of the university within the European educational area. Its significance is defined as a principle that ensures the autonomy, integrity, and accountability of universities to society. The provisions of the Magna Charta Universitatum and the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education” are analysed with regard to the harmonization of European and national approaches to academic freedom. It is emphasized that the democratic culture of the university is built upon a combination of freedom and responsibility, ethical standards, and the active participation of the academic community in governance. It is noted that for Ukraine, the development of a culture of trust and partnership is particularly relevant as a prerequisite for effective university autonomy.

    English in international legal instruments : навчальний посібник для студентів факультету міжнародних відносин

    Навчальний посібник "English in international legal instruments" призначений для студентів факультету міжнародних відносин, які вивчають англійську мову в контексті міжнародного права. Матеріали посібника базуються на автентичних текстах ключових міжнародно-правових документів, таких як Статут Організації Об’єднаних Націй, Загальна декларація прав людини, Конвенція про права дитини, а також угодах Європейського Союзу. Тематика охоплює такі питання, як права людини, екологічне право, функціонування міжнародних організацій та укладення міжнародних договорів. Навчальний посібник спрямований на розвиток професійної мовної компетенції студентів, зокрема навичок читання, аналізу, перекладу та інтерпретації юридичних текстів англійською мовою. Він також сприяє формуванню міждисциплінарного підходу до навчання, поєднуючи знання з міжнародного права та практичну мовну підготовку. Навчальний посібник рекомендовано для використання у навчальному процесі в рамках курсів англійської мови професійного спрямування, а також для самостійного опрацювання матеріалу.

    Finding your voice: developing effective communication strategies

    This article introduces the coursebook "Finding Your Voice: Enhancing Communication Skills" for higher education institutions in Ukraine. The coursebook provides authentic materials and exercises to develop students' EFL skills, focusing on oral and written communication. The coursebook is designed to be used alongside the accompanying "Workbook" which includes grammar, vocabulary, and writing activities, promoting independent and group work. It aims to improve students' communicative, linguistic, and sociocultural competence, enabling them to effectively use English in diverse intercultural communication contexts.

    Formation of Academic Culture and Integrity as Key European Values

    The article examines the significance of academic culture and integrity as key factors in Ukraine’s integration into the European Higher Education Area. It is demonstrated that successful European integration necessitates not only institutional reforms but also a transformation of the value orientations within the academic community. The main challenges in implementing the principles of academic integrity are identified, and possible ways to address them are outlined with regard to European standards and practices.

    What next? Where do we go?

    This paper describes the immediate experiences of a lecturer who, with her family, was displaced during the war. After finding safety outside of Ukraine, teaching resumed via Zoom. The teacher created a purposefully ‘safe’ space online for students to participate.
